Audio: Tony Perkins claims he helped persuade Reince Priebus to drop Las Vegas from GOP convention consideration

As you might have heard, Las Vegas, NV, has pulled out from the list of cities up for consideration to potentially host the 2016 Republican convention. And while all credible news reports say the pullout was voluntary on the part of Las Vegas (because of prep time and facility criteria), anti-LGBT activist Tony Perkins spins a different yarn. According to Perkins, who has mentioned his friendship with Priebus before, he had a little something to do with the pullout—and it was precisely because of the state GOP's dropping marriage discrimination from its platform. The biggest story for me is that Perkins, a man who has said the most horrible things imaginable about LGBT people, has the ear of the RNC head. This is the kind of thing that ends a conversation when chatting with gay Republicans about whether or not their party is still, in fact, anti-gay. That, ann you know—the party's terrible voting record on anything remotely related to LGBT rights.

But beyond that, someone just isn't telling the truth here. Did the RNC drop Las Vegas or did Vegas pullout? Tony is sure ready to claim some sort of victory for social conservatism, while everyone else is citing logistics. Forgive me if I have trouble trusting the man who says its "a fact" that I will face eternal damnation.
