Video: Bernard Whitman destroys Tony Perkins in Fox News debate

by Jeremy Hooper

To Tony Perkins, condemning a person is just as much of an expression as living truthfully as that person—at least when that latter person is gay and that first person is hostile to homosexuality. This Perkins worldview is not news to any us. The man does not think gay people should be gay. That is known. That is clear.

On last night's edition of Fox News' Kelly File, Tony did his best to make it sound like the NFL, where heterosexuality and Christianity have both managed to thrive for eons, is now turning against Christianity, since (a) people had opinions about one former player who was much better known for his constant talk of faith than his on-field performance, and (b) the league had opinions about a player who publicly condemn another as "OMG, horrible" simply because he lived his life openly. Fortunately, Fox News actually put someone one with Tony this time, and that someone, Democratic pollster Bernard Whitman, did a nice job making a cat-who-ate-a-canary-looking Perkins' hostility sound as out-of-touch as it is:
