Mat Staver: We are basically Pompeii and a volcano is going to soon end us

by Jeremy Hooper

At an Independence Day weekend event called "Celebrate America," Liberty Counsel attorney, Fox News regular, recent congressional testifier, legal counsel arguing against same-sex marriage in Florida, and longtime anti-LGBT activist Mat Staver used his time to tell the gathered that America circa 2014 is essentially Pompeii circa 79, with something like a genocidal volcano soon to destroy us all. And of course the gays and our marriages (which he compares to denying the laws of gravity) are a big reason why.

Clip is cued to the volcanic warning; his intense focus on marriage (in)equality comes a few minutes later and continues on for a good while before moving on to "ex-gay advocacy. Watch as much or as little as you want:

As I indicated, Staver is currently appearing in a Florida courtroom arguing against marriage equality. Please, please, please, please, please let him bring a model volcano into the court room!!!
