You guys, will you please pipe down so Sen. Rubio can dismantle your deserved freedoms?

by Jeremy Hooper

And now the gentle-victim from Florida will take the floor:

Screen Shot 2014-07-23 At 6.12.48 PmThose who support same-sex marriage have a right to lobby their state legislature to change its laws. But Americans like myself who support keeping the traditional definition of marriage also have the right to work to keep the traditional definition of marriage in our laws without seeing them overturned by a judge.”...

“I promise you that even before this speech is over, I’ll be attacked as a hater or a bigot or someone who’s anti-gay,” he said. “This intolerance in the name of tolerance is hypocrisy. Supporting the definition of marriage as one man and one woman is not anti-gay. It is pro-traditional marriage.

—US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) in speech to Catholic University; full remarks at Right Wing Watch

Senator, your policies, if allowed to extend to their logical end, would legally divorce me from my husband and legally estrange us from our daughter. So sorry, senator, if you feel that gay Americans who push back against you are "attacking" you for these, the views that are absolutely, 100%, in every way hostile to families like mine. But it's not "hypocrisy"—it's self defense.

And I say this without calling you any kind of name (I never do). The only label I need for you is "wrong."
