Former 'ex-gay' leader Randy Thomas: 'I am gay. I am ok with who I am.'

by Jeremy Hooper

Screen Shot 2015-01-12 At 9.49.08 AmFor eleven years (2002–2013), Randy Thomas was one of the most visible leaders at the now defunct Exodus International, appearing in ad campaigns opposed to pro-gay legislation and even scoring an invite to the Bush White House to press for a Federal Marriage Amendment. Today, Thomas is instead embracing his truth:

A peaceful disclosure: I'm gay [Randy Thomas]

For now Randy says he remains celibate. However, he now admits that he could see himself in a relationship with a man.

Not surprising, since this seems to be the career trajectory of the "ex-gay" activist. But very welcome news nonetheless. I've always liked Randy and found his writing and willingness to criticize his own (now former) movement to be refreshing. I wish him well.
