South Carolina, Marriage, and Tape

by Jeremy Hooper

In South Carolina yesterday, a group of gay and lesbian activists sat in on a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting with black tape covering their mouths, in protest of the Senate's recent vote to pull a same-sex marriage bill out of subcommittee before it was given a public hearing.

Rumor has it that when conservative lawmaker Harley Q. Homophobe saw the activists' taped mouths, he immediately shouted "TAPE! Well, why the hell didn't I think of that? We could just tape all their mouths and then we wouldn't have to listen to them bitch about marriage. It's genius, I tell ya!"

As for yesterday's Committee meeting - They moved to delay the vote on the marriage-banning amendment for another week.

As for Harley - Expect his "Silence the Sodomites" Bill sometime within the next year.
