That book's fruity...BOYCOTT!

by Jeremy Hooper

Oklahoma State Rep Sally Kern has convinced more than 70 state legislators to sign a petition requesting that the children's book King & King be banned from local libraries. Kern is unhappy with the children's book because it features a young prince who finds that the young princesses really don't stimulate his crown, realizing he much prefers the company of a fellow male.

Ironically, the fact that the book is unapologetically designed to promote acceptance of homosexuality is exactly the argument being used to support the ban. State Rep. Curt Roggow tells the Enid News & Eagle:

“I just found it offensive that it was a children’s book with a homosexual theme. I just don’t think that’s appropriate for children’s reading. It offends me.”

And of course, anything that offends a conservative lawmaker is generally subjected to a ban, burn, or boycott (not necessarily in that order).

Said to be next on the Oklahoma conservative agenda? Investigating exactly who and what makes George so Curious. It seems they simply don't trust that strange man in the yellow hat!
