NY marrying mayor to pray for "activist judge"
New York's highest court has ruled that Jason West, the New Paltz Village mayor who last year married gay couples, will face trial on 24 misdemeanor counts of violating the state's domestic relations law.
But hey, at least Jason can take comfort in the fact that the happy couples that he hitched are now enjoying the joys and legal benefits of marriage thanks to his fearless actions.
Oh wait, what? They're not? At all? Oh.
Well maybe he at least got a nice piece of cake and some free booze out of the deal? Trying to find some sort of silver lining here...
Assistant DA Joan Lamb indicated that West would have more right to challenge the law if he were part of a homosexual couple, since it would directly affect his rights. Upon hearing this, rumor has it that West grabbed his lawyer Bob and pawed him like a cat in heat.
