Oklahoma lawmakers: Oh, the Queers You'll Stigmatize
The Oklahoma House has passed a "non-binding resolution" that asks the state's libraries to "confine homosexually themed books and other age-inappropriate material to areas exclusively for adult access and distribution." The measure is designed to "protect children" from gay-themed kiddie books, like "Heather has Two Mommies" and "King and King."
Of course the type of homosexuality from which the lawmakers are trying to "protect children," would be the incredibly stigmatized and demonized form that is propagated by separatist legislation such as this. After all, if children don't learn to view queers as unequal, second-class citizens while in their formative years, there is a danger that they may grow up embracing diversity; and what would happen to society then?
Happily and surprisingly, library officials in the state have indicated that they won't be complying to the bullsh*t legislation.
