Extra, extra: Ex-ex-gay examines Exodus ex-gay examples, expects exclusion
Shawn O'Donnell, who was part of the Exodus "ex-gay" ministry for five years, has requested that his photo be removed from a photo (pic.) on the company's website since he is now an out and proud gay man. However, the group is refusing O'Donnell's request as if they put back the spots on just one leopard, then they'd have to put back the spots on all.
O'Donnell says:
"I am outraged and appalled that Exodus would mislead and deceive potential clients into believing that I have been healed." "Exodus' arrogant refusal to remove my likeness has been a source of great anguish and pain, because I know it has surely led to further suffering by vulnerable people. I call on Exodus' sense of decency and fairness to restore my dignity by immediately removing my picture from the front page of their web-site."
Preach on current-gay! The photo in question is from 1998, so we've asked an artist to give his rendering of what an updated version featuring those who are still ex-gay might look like:
So much better.
