HRC stickers now not only option for Utah's bumper-based 'mo rights fights
The Utah State Tax Commission has agreed to allow three license plates with gay-friendly messages, marking the first time in the state's history that personalized tags with the word "gay" have been approved. The plates -- which bear the messages "Gay We Go," "Gays R OK," and "Gay RYTS" -- were declined upon their original submission in December, prompting the ACLU to step in and assist. Happily, the commission members have now reconsidered their original stance, freeing Utah car tags to get their "gay" on, as long as the alphanumeric combination isn't in violation of any other restrictions.
The new policy is a win for both the state's homos and Salt Lake City's Mort Feinberg, whose undying love for 'Ben Gay' ointment has been adequately expressed in every way except vehicularly.
