Report: Maine gays' gayness still an issue for some

by Jeremy Hooper

Two and half weeks before Maine residents vote on whether to keep or repeal a law legally banning GLBT discrimination, a new non-scientific report released today by the Center for Prevention of Hate Violence indicates that gay bias is indeed a problem in the state. Of the 92 GLBT individuals participating in the study, 48 said they had experienced such nonsense in the past five years, yielding 63 specific instances of bias.

Gay rights supporters point to the study as reason why homo-gays need legal protection against discrimination, while those who oppose gay rights say the report is cleverly timed to influence the upcoming referendum. We say: both of you shut your traps and get us a lobster roll and whoopie pie pronto, bitches. We've been writing about you guys's wicked bickering for months now, and nary a local treat have we seen. It's because we're gay, right?
