Mercer's gay support elicits Baptist affiliates' abandoment
The Mercer Triangle Symposium, the first gay student group in the history of Atlanta's Mercer University, disbanded on Monday due to complaints from Georgia Baptist Convention head J. Robert White (pic.) that the LGBT group conflicted with the school's Christian affiliation. Additionally and by most accounts relatedly, the executive committee of the GBC voted yesterday to sever ties with the university, a decision that would become official if delegates voted in favor of the campus amputation at two consecutive annual meetings of the convention.
Meanwhile, Jesus, frustrated by centuries of misinterpretation and concept mangling, continued yesterday to shake his head in exasperated disbelief.
