Coupled gay Brits gain kid-acquiring rights

   Continuing on their quest to throughly rub their tolerant and open minds into our still struggling with homophobia faces, England and Wales have granted gay couples the right to adopt under new legislation enacted today.

Meaning, of course, that every foster child in the UK is now praying mercilessly that Elton and David will feel their paternal instincts kick in.

Getting adopted by a pair of nice gays -- fantastic.
Getting adopted by a pair of nice, ultra-rich, famous gays -- fantastic, with lots of shiny presents, witty antidotes about Celine, and free tickets to "The Lion King."

No word on when adoption by gay couples will be fully legalized here in the states, though here's hoping that when it does make the leap across the pond, the American version will be more "The Office" than "Coupling."
