Is Ford dicking us over? The plot thickens

by Jeremy Hooper

As details continue to emerge regarding the American Family Association's cancellation of their gay-themed Ford boycott, The Advocate is now reporting that the automaker will no longer run ads for Jaguar and Land Rover in gay media. However, Ford spokesman Mike Moran tells the publication that the decision is "strictly business" and that they will continue running Volvo ads in queer media.

Is he being truthful or have the Model T innovators succumbed to the demands of one of the most homophobic, dogmatic, boycott-happy groups that America has ever known? Due to their past history of gay support, we will reluctantly give the auto giant the benefit of the doubt, for now. However, we would like to warn the countless Ford employees who we know are monitoring what we say (as evidenced by the multiple "ford.globalclipsheet.com" referrers found daily in our stats) that our community is about one homo-unfriendly development away from our own all-out Fordcott.

The Jaguar XK may be pretty, but if it serves as a sign of corporate capitulation in the matters of decency and fairness, then no thank you.
