Wash senators rinse discrimination, dry debate

by Jeremy Hooper

In news that will surely not sit well in the Hutcherson household, the Washington state Senate today approved a long-contested bill to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. After one more purely procedural vote in the House, the bill heads to Gov. Christine Gregoire, who has indicated that she will gladly sign.

So congrats, Washington homo-gays -- the road to not being denied an apartment, job, or loan on the basis of your bedroom behavior has now been paved. You may still be a few steps away from legal marriage, but with this thing on the books, nobody's gonna be getting away with terminating your homosexual behind, simply because it's fruity (though if it's dirty, you're on your own).
