Equality trekkers visited by star voyager

by Jeremy Hooper

After the young activists with the Soulforce Equality Ride were shunned yesterday by Minneapolis' North Central University, they got a bit of a surprise when former "Star Trek" star and current homosexual, George Takei (pic), dropped by for a visit. Meaning, of course, that the old familiar "Star Trek" saying, "Transport me skyward, Dotty," was undoubtedly heard ad nauseam. Ugh, he must get so sick of that line!

Of the Equality Ride, the AP quotes Takei as saying, "They have shown courage and character in showing that most people of faith are not extreme reactionaries who oppose equal rights." Additionally, we'd like to add: "They've also shown that many people of faith take the 'as we arrest those who trespass against us' concept literally."
