Why did Palm Sunday event irk Mass anti-gay? (hint: the event involved homosexuals daring to be homosexuals)
Of a PFLAG-benefitting, Boston Gay Men's Chorus-featuring, fundraising concert held at Massachusetts' Concord Carlisle High School last Sunday (Palm Sunday), local "pro-family" activist Lee Ann Kay tells Agape Press:
"Holy Week is particularly important to Christians," she says, "and to celebrate homosexual practices on Palm Sunday, I believe, is a slap in the face to students at the high school whose families uphold traditional moral and religious beliefs."
No word on when and where the concert could've been held so as to not offend Ms. Kay and her traditional beliefs, though we hear she would've only been 3/4 as angry had it been held at 3:52 AM on Halloween in the darkest recesses of the local sewer. Oh, and if no gay people would've shown. And it only happened in the organizers' imagination. And the organizer was fictional. And that fiction wasn't available in the local library. Or at Wal-Mart. Or anywhere.
Kay goes on to say:
"[T]his fundraiser for homosexuality [also] sends the false message to students that homosexuality is normal and it's healthy," Kay notes, "and we all know that homosexuality is dangerous to the health and welfare of students and society."
No, sweetness, we all know that reckless promiscuity or having your head bashed by a tire iron are the dangers to both the hetero and homo students' welfares. Homosexuality, when safely practiced as the part of normalcy that it is for millions, poses no more of a true health risk than does 'rosexuality. Now, I'm sure you'll whip out some junk science from the likes of Dr. Paul Cameron to try and call us out on this, but you can just stop with that right now. Just as with "straight" sexual activity, it's merely unsafe misuse of the naked exchange that leads to problems and ills for some. Unfortunately, the marginalized role in which homos at large have been placed makes them sometimes more likely to explore some non-traditional avenues of multi-partnered coitus. However, if those of you who self-identify as teeming with morals would cool your rhetoric and shutter your raging antipathy, the "dangers" of homosexual life would dissipate exponentially. You guys will NEVER own this truth -- but those of us who know the non-event that is the monogamous homosexual relationship, we don't need to hear you say it. We know how life is and could be for others.
It remains to be seen what Kay has in store for the rest of Holy Week; however, your humble scribe just kissed his partner good morning, so he expects a "destroying the sanctity of Good Friday" missive by 3PM.
