Pentagon fesses up to spying on gay groups; Trapezoid still mum

by Jeremy Hooper

The Dept. of Defense has released documentation confirming suspicions that they spied on LGBT groups opposed to the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" military policy.

And here we thought that the clicking noise, tiny camera, and camouflaged man in the corner were simply common burdens of Manhattan living; oh, how foolish we've been.

Responding to the findings, C. Dixon Osburn, president of the gay soldier-encouraging SLDN, says, “The Department of Defense has now confirmed the existence of a surveillance program monitoring LGBT groups...Pentagon leaders have also acknowledged inappropriately collecting some of the information in the TALON database. That information should be destroyed and no similar surveillance should be authorized in the future. Free expression is not a threat to our national security.” He, of course, made these statements into the wire that the government recently installed in his brain while he slept.

Among the educational institutions where protests were said to have been monitored are New York University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of California at Santa Cruz. So at the very least, the DOD now knows the full extent of the Urban Outfitters product line, as well as the meaning of the term "4:20." Just great.
