CNN explores 'ex-gays'; 'spot-changing leopards' still waiting

by Jeremy Hooper

Last night on American television, a man took to the airwaves to convince us that he's singing a tune we all should buy into. Despite his unconventional style and the fact that his challenger beautifully sang a melody that's widely embraced by the gay community, he still insisted that his voice is the one that we should all support. He pled his case that we all have a "choice," and that his ditty is the one we should choose. It was actually a little weird -- he seemed to be on some sort of "soul patrol." And while some folks support him (especially the Hicks), experts on the other side of the debate fear that his spastic, unorthodox movement might danger those who try to emulate him in their own lives.

Meanwhile, over on another channel, Taylor Hicks performed in the "American Idol" finale. While we can't help you with a video of that, if you'd like to watch the first clip we mentioned -- a CNN piece involving "ex-gay" Richard Cohen singing the deceptive tune of "gays can/ should change" -- click below:
