Do ya think they ever stop and think, 'Hmm...maybe painting gays as standing against God is wrong?'
When asked what he would say to motivate so-called "values voters" in the upcoming election season, the Alliance Defense Fund's Alan Sears tells Focus on the Family's CitizenLink:
"Stay focused on the eternal.
God has given us an incredible series of wins in the courts to hold back the tide of the homosexual agenda, but even after a series of defeats in courts and the votes last fall, homosexual advocates are not sleeping. They and the ACLU are meeting and they're planning and they're raising money and they intend to win this battle in the long haul through public policy changes.
And we already saw that we have a United States Senate that was unwilling to protect marriage. Now the simple bottom line is are we going to elect people that will protect marriage and protect the family and protect life or are we going to allow the other side to have a tremendous resurgence. Don't get confused by the economic chaos and things that the media try to throw at you. Stay focused on the eternal."
Wow -- God gave the 'pro-family' folks court wins so as to stem the tide of our our evil agenda? And despite this clear-cut message from the man upstairs, we gays and our partners in sin at the ACLU aren't just throwing in the towel and saying "Uncle?" Well, why? I mean, shouldn't we just sit back and allow religious extremists to paint us as if we are standing in opposition to all that is moral and righteous as they work to create a world where discrimination is favored over diversity?
NO? You mean presenting the idea that GOD is standing against us in a toe-to-toe morality face-off is REALLY nutty? And capitulating to the tyranny of religious persecution in a country where church and state are, by law, separate, would be us giving up on a valid, worthwhile civil rights struggle? Oh. So I guess that means our advice to citizen as election season approaches would be to FOCUS on the economic chaos, unwarranted war, gas prices, Middle East crisis, terrorism, unemployment, and other ACTUAL problems, and stop listening to the 'pro-family' spin that has become all-too-accepted as fact. Let's stop lengthening the time of the sullen, depressing music-laden first half of the inevitable mid-21st century documentary film, "Same Sex-marriage: The Long Road to Triumph," and start creating the second half footage, wherein we'll celebrate morality's liberation from its falsely compassionate hijackers.
