Touro Univ: Oh, just kidding about that whole 'go away, gays' thing
Despite last week's announcement from Vice President and Dean of Students Nathan Church that Touro University College Of Osteopathic Medicine was pulling funding from their Gay-Straight Alliance and barring it from using the university's name, officials with the Vallejo, CA, Jewish college now say the whole thing was really just a big misunderstanding and the group can remain unchallenged.
Interestingly, there's been no comment from Church as to why he made the initial, apparently "misunderstood" declaration that "the gay lifestyle goes against the Jewish university's values" and announced the club ban. Perhaps his fingers were crossed? He thought it was September Fools Day, maybe? But whatever the reason, we applaud the school for announcing their separation from Church and statement.
