Mitt goes courtin' to stop gays from courtin'
Today in Boston, the Supreme Judicial Court (the same Mass. court that gave gay marriage the go-ahead in 2004) will hear outgoing governor Mitt Romney's request that they use their judicial power to force a vote on a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
Relatedly, today on syndicated television, Judge Joe Brown will hear a case in which a designated driver is being sued for wrecking her friend's car by speeding through a neighborhood--backwards.
So what do these two judicial matters have in common? Well, both could have been avoided if only the party involved was more "forward-thinking" and into "progressive development."
