Circumventing equality: Jersey civil unions bill now headed to full Senate and Assembly
By a vote of 8-2, the New Jersey state Senate Judiciary Committee today advanced a civil unions bill, sending the measure (rather than a full marriage equality bill) to the full Senate for a vote.
In a related story, the waitress at the coffee shop where the eight voting in favor of "civil unions" congregated this morning is still baffled as to why whenever the lawmakers wanted some of the blue sweetener packets, they asked her to bring them some "Separate."
