Bush to powwow with Bennett?!
Americablog's John Aravosis is reporting that "ex-gay" activist Stephen Bennett today sent an message to the folks on his email list, wherein he claimed that he and an unnamed U.S. Senator are "coordinating a private meeting with President Bush and other FORMER homosexual men and women, along with their families" to convince the president to veto federal hate crimes legislation (should such a bill reach his desk).
Not to be outdone, we hear a group of leopards who claimed to have changed their spots are also seeking a presidential bitch session, where they will duplicitously demean the "special rights"-seeking endeavors of the "militant spotted freaks" with whom they used to identify.
For more on the Bennett thing, follow the below Americablog link. For more on the spot-changing leopards -- well, despite no science, common sense, or rational thought to back up our claims, we say they exist. So they must, right?

Your thoughts
I don't think I'll ever understand why ex-gays are involved in certain political issues. Why do they feel the need to interject in the debate on hate crimes legislation? What does that have to do with who they are and what they are dealing with/going through as individuals?

If a tree falls in a forest and nobody's around, does it make a sound?
If a member of a politically-tied movement "changes" into a heterosexual and doesn't proceed to politically condemn the group of which they "used to be" members, do they help keep the culture of non-acceptance alive?
