Video (and contest): 'Pride -- Early 70's Style'

by Jeremy Hooper

From YouTube user gayculturecentre comes this video of a 1970 gay pride parade:

Since the person who posted the clip doesn't know where this took place, we will give the first person who can correctly identify the city (with some sort of proof, even if it's convincingly anecdotal) this fabulous reward:

GAY HISTORY:A PRIDE PARADE FROM 1970 [YouTube]

**As pointed out by a reader, the parade actually looks to have been later then 1970 (as it's labeled in YouTube), since Anita Bryant wasn't a notorious anti-gay figure until the late 70's.

**UPDATE, 1/24: We have a winner!! It has been confirmed by a director of the Chicago Pride Parade that the event took place in the Windy City, although the exact year is still not know. From the response that our winner received from Richard Pfeiffer of PRIDEChicago:

YES, that is a tape of a Chicago Pride Parade in the early 1970's.
I would have to go back into my files in order to determine which year
it was exactly.

I recognized several people in the video, including the late Bearded
Lady who passed away a few years ago. I also recognized several old
friends of mine.

Your thoughts

based on the accents I narrow it down to the Great Lakes region, or the North East (RI Maybe?)

The clothes and haircuts are closer to 1978 than 1970.

Yea, and the Anita Bryant reference would imply late 70's. The mystery remains for now...
