Because a flair for design is apparently out of step with 'God's perfect design'

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 7-40"If a biological basis is found, and if a prenatal test is then developed, and if a successful treatment to reverse the sexual orientation to heterosexual is ever developed, we would support its use as we should unapologetically support the use of any appropriate means to avoid sexual temptation and the inevitable effects of sin"

-Rev. R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Picture 9-27"If a biological basis is found and you guys actually start trying to "fix the" gayness prenatally, we can stop debating you and go book our honeymoon suite right now, as folks will overnight realize how unbelievably dangerous, threatening, and unhinged the anti-gay movement truly is."

Your thoughts

One wonders if a 'prenatal test' were developed but no viable 'treatment' were found, just how quickly Mohler would adopt the "pro-choice" stand?

I know it's bad form to mention the "N" word in blog comments but, ya know, eugenics and all....

NAZIS.

Thank you.

If they want to kill us all, what are they waiting for? Why not cut out the medical middle man and stampede straight to the gas chambers? And if a gene were found that caused an irrational belief in sky gods.......?

Mr Mohler is sad and despicable and only a few notches down the moral pole from the murdering thugs of Islam. Shame on him.

I have only one thing to say about this....white eyed fruit flies.

Playing with genes is not so straight foward, as most control different things depending on their location in the body. By my observation, getting rid of the "gey gene" would also cause mankind to lose most of its art and innovation.

One expects people who shun science via childish refutations of evolution to have a simplistic grasp of biology. That shouldn't detract from the outrageous nature of the original suggestion.

Given how puritan many of these religious extremists already are I imagine the loss of any future Michelangelos, Alan Turings or Ludwig Wittgensteins would be seen as a reasonable bargain for a "sinless" world.

As it happens, I'm an illustrator and graphic designer. I wonder how Mr Mohler's gurning features would look transported to a Tom of Finland scenario? (Not that I have the time to waste in finding out.) He certainly doesn't deserve the Sistine Chapel or the sublimities of Caravaggio.

It's amazing that a man that has so many opinions about bio-ethics would propose something so frightening. his hatred of gay people knows no diabolical end.

LOL! This guy is basically saying, "OK, God, dude, you made a mistake on this one. But don't worry. We'll fix it for you. Poof!"
