Dear leaders of the organized LGBT movement:
One of the things we pride ourselves on here at G-A-Y is that we have nothing to hide. Transparency is the order of the day as we work to cut through the spin that is so commonly used by our opposition. It is one of the things we love most about this online medium. If you make an error -- someone's going to call you on it within minutes. If someone disagrees with you or has other opinions -- they'll comment with their own thoughts within the hour.
This being the case, If you are going to provide insight or address our concerns about a topic (which is always deeply valued), please do not advise us to subscribe to a less-than-candid PR game. We are made nothing short of uneasy when we request clarification on a certain subject and are basically asked to ignore or be less-than-frank. We simply do not operate with a message crafted by any influence other than our own convictions, reactions, and ideas. A reasoned mind, a hope-filled heart, and a rational outlook are our only guides.
While it is of utmost importance that we all stick together as a community and while we genuinely love each and every one of you (and believe in your mission's fully), we cannot and will not be dictated by a board room on the ways to craft our message.
Your thoughts
Jeremy,
I've no idea what this relates to but good for you. Do what is ethical and don't ever give in to someone's PR agenda. In the long run you will benefit not only yourself but you will also help keep the name of the community credible.

Amen my friend. I get so discouraged when I see our leaders trying to be nice and dismissive about the issues we should be attacking.
I just wish that they realize that their way of doing things makes us seem susceptible to anti-gay industry lies.

Your comments remind me of the assault on academic freedom i have in the classroom. Frustrating for sure and the best strategy I have found is to expose the issue, as you have done.
