Spaulding channels her inner Babs Walters, interviews Murray

by Jeremy Hooper

Albums Y49 Pspauld Joemurray SmallLast week, we were tipped off by our friend Pam Spaulding to an article written by Joe Murray (pic.), a former American Family Association staffer and columnist for the AFA"s Agape Press. In said article, Murray seemed to go where no AFA employee had ever gone before: He seemed to actually be lashing out against his former bosses and General Peter Pace for their homophobia!

While reading his seemingly tolerant words, we were shocked and our interest was piqued, as we knew Joe only on the basis of a handful of crude, stereotype-laden commentaries that he had penned for Agape. We had never even for a second considered that he was in any way on our side, and the revelation that he might be more tolerant than originally thought was intriguing. But after a few days passed and more and more stories came down our pipe, we moved on from pursuing it further.

Fortunately, however, Pam took the initiative to dig a little further and actually conduct an interview with Joe, where she finds out that not all AFA staffers' brains are washed with the same gay-unfriendly soap. He even supports gay marriage! To read the full of Pam's expose, click below:

Thank you, Pam, for your tenacity. Thank you, Joe, for your candor!

Your thoughts

Good for him. I was still a bit wary and cynical of his motivations, but Murray's proved himself to be an intelligent and thoughtful guy. It takes brains and guts to challenge one's own beliefs, and to change one's perspective on them; Murray's got plenty of both.
