Spitzer's pot of Paddy's Day gold not at end of Fifth Avenue
Following in Christine Quinn's Irish footsteps, NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer has announced that he will not don his green apparel and march tomorrow in NYC St Patrick's Day Parade, with the gay-friendly governor choosing instead to march in Rochester's parade (making it the first time in over a decade that a NY governor hasn't participated in Manhattan's soiree). While he's released no official statement on the reasons behind his absence, it is thought that the continued exclusion of LGBT groups from the festivities is at least a partial reason for his decision.
That damn, exclusionary policy. We're so sick of being torn every year between our love for green beer and shamrocks, and our even deeper love for decency and acceptance! ::sigh::
We're gonna try and get an official comment from Spitzer's camp to see if his actions really are based in pro-gay principle, and not just scheduling conflict or commitment to a friend in Rochester. Stay tuned, my lil' leprechauns.
Spitzer Will Not March in NYC [Irish Abroad]
**NOTE: We plan to be on hand to film the Irish Queers' annual protest of the parade exclusion, so be sure to look for that!

Your thoughts
Could it be that New York has a governor that knows he's the governor of the entire state and not just New York City?

It very well could be that he merely wants to go to the Rochester soiree, which is why we're digging for more. However, the NYC parade is recognized across the globe as one of the largest, which is why the governor traditionally participates in this one rather than other smaller ones.
We don't at all mean to imply that the Empire State begins at the Hudson and ends at the East River.
