Deval not devaluing fight for marriage equality

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 3-53Continuing his goal of wiping the Mitt off the fan in Massachusetts, new governor Deval "breath of fresh air" Patrick has ordered state officials to record the unions of 26 out-of-state same-sex couples who were married by clerks that defied former governor Romney's orders not to join out-of state gays in matrimony. While these unions were initially blocked by Romney from being registered in Massachusetts' records, Patrick has now given their recognition the go-ahead.

A friend and an ally, he.

Sadly, this new development doesn't (yet) open the door for out-of-state queers to motor up to the Bay State and get hitched. However, Deval's only been if office three months; give him time.
