Provisional version of equality advances in NH

by Jeremy Hooper

Good As You Images State-Flag-New-HampshireJust a week after they voted to kill a proposed gay marriage-banning amendment, the New Hampshire House voted today by a 2-to-1margin to pass a civil unions bill. If passed by the Senate and signed into law, the measure would grant participating gay couples the same rights as married heterosexual duos.

So as per usual with measures like this: Yay, step in the right direction; Boo, the fact that it's still a few important steps short of full equality!

It remains to be seen if the Senate will give the bill the go ahead and, if they do, whether or not Governor John Lynch will sign it into law. Just to keep this train a'chuggin' in the right direction, we certainly hope the measure will stay on track; but good God, we're sick of having to sit in the f***ing caboose!
