Dear social conservatives:
If you are going to refuse to use the terms "gay" or "lesbian" when referring to same-sex oriented men and women, then you should not use the equally informal term "straight" to refer to those with a different-sex oriented nature. This, just one quick example, from the American Family Association's Ed Vitagliano:
More and more, in the U.S., Canada and Europe, homosexual activists and their straight sympathizers are trying to ensure that the only speech that's tolerated is the pro-gay kind.
See, "homosexual activists" and their "straight sympathizers." No, no. If you're going to go clinical, then go clinical across the board. Or, if you're going to insist on putting "gay" in quotation marks, as is the "pro-family" norm, then you need to place "straight" in there as well.
Or actually, considering that we've met scores of hetero-identified people who've secretly or latently revealed their gay truth yet never met one truly re-closeted gay, perhaps "straight" would be the one that's more deserving of the alleged-implying punctuation. But we digress.
So yea, that's really all we want to say on this. We just constantly have to read what you kids write about us, and find it a little inconsistent (not to mention insulting) that heterosexuals get to be identified by society's agreed-upon casual moniker, yet ours is presented like a bad word that can only be safely written if it is surrounded by "___" (as if to prevent any of the
advocacy from seeping out).
Hugs and kisses,

Your thoughts
"never one truly re-closeted gay"
You forget Exodus International. Re-closeted, door nailed shut (but a peephole allowed for the occasional "fall") ;)
