Hoofin' it over the BB, year 4
Tomorrow in NYC, Marriage Equality New York will hold its 4th annual wedding march across the Brooklyn Bridge. All locals who wish to show their support for marriage equality in the Empire State, please consider showing up (all details at link)!
And if you DON'T support marriage equality (no matter where your live), please spend tomorrow building a bridge to cover the gaps between your definition of fairness and the actual meaning of the word, and the holes that permeate any logic that allows religious-based antipathy to be used to deny rights to a certain group of tax-paying, worthy citizens. Maybe then we NY-based queers can stop having to waste this annual May Saturday morn' strolling from lower Manhattan to Brooklyn (or sometimes vice versa), and start using it to ponder (a) how nice it is that if we should go into a coma right that very minute, our medical decisions would non-debatably be made by the one who truly knows our heart; (b) how great it is that should we or our partner die, things like inheritance and burial decisions will not be contested; and (c) how wonderful it is that we have a full set of China, a waffle iron, and loads of gifts that we never would have bought for ourselves (but will gladly take from our friends and loved ones).
::sigh:: One can dream. See you there, fellow New Yorkers!
