Sticky pro-'mo promo item earns misguided ire
Oh, the dear sweet "pro-family" movement. Always trying to put one over on their readers, they are.
Latest case in point: The anti-gay folks at MassResistance are currently running this image and caption (taken from the recent Youth Pride event in Boston):
Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth is also running the image, but with the following caption:
Okay, so clearly they are both trying to make it sound like this is a PFLAG-branded, pro-phallus article of clothing. However, if you zoom in on the image, you can easily see a few things:
1) The shirt actually says "I [heart] My Penis (which is a shirt that you can find sold all over the Internet)
2) This young man has simply taken a Pride flag sticker and covered up the "My" part of the saying
3) He has then taken a second sticker, this one a PFLAG "We Are Family" one, and placed it underneath the pro-male organ testimony
The shirt has NOTHING to do with the PFLAG organization. PFLAG was on site passing out stickers, as this was an event to encourage acceptance of gay youth (which is sort of PFLAGs bag, baby). This one young man simply chose to adorn himself with one of their stickers. It's really not that difficult to see this even in the photographs, so we can imagine it was even easier to see the reality of the shirt in person. But of course the unscrupulous, deceptive members of our opposition saw an opportunity to turn this into an attack on a truly righteous organization, so they seized it (knowing few of their peeps will analyze it in the way that we did).
UNBELIEVABLE!
What next, kids, are you guys gonna accuse "My Kid Is An Honor Student" of endorsing all cars on which that bumper sticker resides? Only vehicles with a Jesus Fish gonna be considered as endorsed by the man upstairs? Are the manufacturers of automobiles on which the owner has placed an HRC sticker going to be accused of being in bed with the "gay agenda"?
Actually, that last one seems frighteningly plausible!
