Wherein we (a) congratulate politician and (b) prove we have Showtime

by Jeremy Hooper

Bruce KrausSince he won the Democratic primary last night to represent District 3 on the city council faces no Republican opposition in the general election, Bruce Kraus will become the first openly gay man elected to office in the city of Pittsburgh, PA.

Progress.

And who to credit for Kraus' win? Why, Debbie Novotny, of course:

Debbie002

Wait, what's that? Debbie Novotny is not a real person, the Pittsburgh in which "Queer As Folk" was set was actually a Toronto sound stage, that show has been off the air for years, and it has little to no modern cultural relevancy? Oh.

30894953 C3Cfd4E877 OWell in that case, clearly Kraus was victorious because Bette Porter sent a huge donation on behalf of CU, in hopes that Kraus will stage a showing of Jodi Lerner's work that's so unapologetically progressive and pro-gay, it'll make "Provocations" look like Fay Buckley's wet dream.

Wait what's that? Ms. Porter is also a work of paid cable fiction and this post is heading a very weird direction? Oh.

Well in that case, just read these mentions from the Victory Fund (someone who truly had something to do with the Kraus success):

BREAKthrough in Pittsburgh! [Victory]

As for you, Mr. K: Meet us at Babylon; we're buying!

Your thoughts

Queer as Folk was shot in Toronto not Vancouver.
