Video: Defusing the gay bomb
You might of heard recently about the Pentagon's proposed "gay bomb" (a story we heard about back in January of '05, but has really only caught hold in the past week or so). But if you're not up to speed, here are MSNBC's Amy Robach and Rachel Maddow discussing the nuttiness on last night's edition of "Coutdown":
Homosexuality: Is there anything with which this country is more obsessed? Turning people gay, speculating about who is and who is not gay, gay marriage -- Love or hate the 'moness, it's on people's minds and tongues more than just about anything else in this world! It's just...bizarre.
Perhaps what we really need is a bomb to force gay unfriendly people to turn their attention to their own bodies and desires, rather than focusing so damn much on that which they loathe, don't understand, or secretly crave!
The ultimate weapon: a gay bomb? [MSNBC]
Your thoughts
As a concept, an uncontrollable urge to have sex, it would be a deterant. That it would probably involve homosexual sex comes from the make up of most armies. If your average Taliban jumped on his fellow terrorist it would disrupt things. That being Gay means you would not fight is just silly. Some of the butchest guys in Iraq are as gay as they come. Not all, but we know they are there, doing their job and no one has a problem with them. At least not the rank and file.

You nailed it, Jeremy...the obsession has become so ridiculous that it may just take something as profound as what you described to make the fundies and other gay unfriendly people drop it. Very well put.
