Beverlyn Sayers: Issue #1

by Jeremy Hooper

In our never-ending quest to present balanced viewpoints, we at Good As You have decided to add a new columnist to our team. So without further adieu, we would now like to introduce you to:

Beverlynsayers-3

Make her feel just as welcome as she makes you (heterosexuals) feel.

Your thoughts

Umm...yeah.

Jeremy, where did you find her? I mean, a little more to the background story would be nice.

Please tell me she is on a trial basis. She isn't as open-minded as I would like her to be. I don't think I will read her posts much.

Her life and background will become more revealed over time.

This isn't a straw...woman...is it? I ask because her initials are "BS" and her arguments are a bit, uh, specious, even for the "pro-family" side. Is it an attempt to understand a point of view that affects you? Or is she really...gonna write for your blog?

Then again, I read your posts about the TVC and wonder what on earth or down below they're rolling on, so...

Reveal quickly, because right now I'm very offended.

Hmmm...I really never expected to have to explain this. Perhaps once more of this irrational mother's "BS" comes out, it will become more clear.

Uh... guys, I think this is pretty clearly a parody... perhaps based on Jeremy's own mother? (watch after about the half-way mark of this: http://www.inthelifetv.org/inthelife/watch/?episode=50 )

That said, I'm not sure how I feel about this "new addition" either way. I think this blog proves every day that "pro family" anti-gays get nuttier by the minute -- we don't need to invent people to see that, though I suppose things could get interesting if B.S. gets a legitimate following.

I'm not sure if this isn't too sad to be funny, but I guess I'll wait and see. It's kinda funny, so far. I'm certainly not offended.

And sometimes you need to invent people to get a personal point of view, rather than political talking points, which is what G-A-Y usually deals with. There's people on the other end of the talking points, dealing with real situations. They're worth pointing and laughing at too. So I welcome Ms. Sayers addition to the team.

It kind of reminded me of this too: http://www.christianitytoday.com/tcw/1997/novdec/7w6046.html?gclid=CIjflPKI6IwCFQsrlAod9xWEGQ&start=1

I agree with Andy, definitely seems to be tongue in cheek. Like how dare he flaunt his "lifestyle" even when hes just telling her day to day things that have nothing to do with s*x.

Posted by: Ron | Jul 12, 2007 10:25:48 AM

Is this a joke? Because it's pretty funny! I mean, I know it's not nice to laugh at someone, but thats ok in this situation..right?

Man that's tough. I feel for you . I thank God every day my 80year old Mother is totaly down with me being gay . Wants to see me and my partner get married . Has even offered to go to Vermont with us. I'm waiting 'till NY allows us marriage .
