Gay man now working to make turncoats trendy

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 10-38Michael Glatze, founding editor of the now defunct Canadian magazine Young Gay America, has become the latest to be frightened by religious persecution into embracing the "ex-gay" lie. And like most other "ex-gays," he can't just be happy in his newfound "ex-gaydom." No, no -- he instead has to write a commentary for the extremely anti-gay WorldNetDaily news site, wherein he maliciously demonizes his former gay rights movement and queer allies, saying things like, "Homosexuality, delivered to young minds, is by its very nature pornographic" and "We cannot see the truth when we're blinded by homosexuality." Check out the unbelievably offensive, traitorous piece below:

How a 'gay rights' leader became straight [WND]

A few things to consider while reading:

-He never once actually says he is attracted to females, despite the duplicitous headline, "How a 'gay rights' leader became straight."

-He tells WND, "I feel strongly God has put me here for a reason. Even in the darkest days of late-night parties, substance abuse and all kinds of things – when I felt like, 'Why am I here, what am I doing?' – there was always a voice there." This is a similar tactic we saw recently used by Charlene Cothran and have seen from countless other "ex-gays": Making it sound as if late night parties, clubbing, or drug abuse are one and the same with same-sex desire.

-He writes numerous lines that his ass simply cannot cash, such as "...homosexual sex – and all other lust-based sex – is never satisfactory: It's a neurotic process rather than a natural, normal one." This neglects the millions of gays who do not let lies and religious right propaganda inform their lives, and who know ONLY same-sex relations as "natural." For this writer personally, it was the many failed youthful attempts to make opposite-sex relations his reality that led to neuroses! But, of course, the anti-gay team works from the place that gay relations can only be lust, with only male-female pairings being able to brand their physical/mental/social/financial partnerships with the "love" label. It is a fundamental untruth that informs their every queer-unfirendly endeavor!

-He works from the place that gays are essentially God-less, so as to foster his illusion that if one is "saved" by Jesus, they can become straight "ex-gay." This discounts the scores of religious and spiritual LGBT folks who feel deeply connected with their faith. Our opposition's non-stop hijacking of the man upstairs is truly disturbing!

-Again asserting that true gay love cannot exist, Glatze says, "We cannot fully be ourselves when our minds are trapped in a cycle and group-mentality of sanctioned, protected and celebrated lust." And again, this sets up the false premise that each and every member of the gay community shares one group-thin-laden mindset. This is, however, bullshit! "Ex-gay" proponents like to paint the picture of a community that lives, eats, breathes, and functions in exactly the same way. In fact, it often seems like what they are speaking out against is their former participation in gay cultural elements, not gay coitus. It is more convenient for them to put an image in their supporters minds of a man wearing a feather boa dancing on a Pride float to thumping music. But this line of thought disregards the fact that gays exist in all walks of life in all sorts of cultures. One can live on a farm in Wyoming, listen only to country music, possess a political mind that begins and ends at American Idol, love Jesus, and despise both Rosie O'Donnell and Barney Frank, yet still listen to their bodies and know their gay truth. Despite what critics wish people to people, it does not require one to buy into the "gay lifestyle" to be same-sex-oriented

-We repeat: There is not one mention of Mr. Glatze now enjoying females. The "ex-gay" movement is one of the only situations in history wherein "change" has been defined (by some eager beavers) as merely pausing one's past actions. We never doubt that some of these folks have become celibate. Anyone has that ability. However, such is not "change."

Alright, we have nothing else to say about this, as the whole thing just makes us really sad. Due to the excessive persecution that comes along with being gay, yet another person has been rooked into placing his natural desire on the shelf. And even worse, he is now buying into the disinformation campaigns that he used to oppose, and working to keep his former allies marginalized, demonized, or worse. A man who fought to make the world better for scared gay youth is now fighting to make the world better for non-accepting parents. It's just...sad.

Mr. Glatze, we'll be here for you when you wise up.

Your thoughts

If Michael Glatze has become so moral and Christian all of a sudden, I would like to ask that he refund the money that I paid for a two-year subscription to YGA, in response to his pitiful letter soliciting up-front contributions. After I paid for it, we received exactly one issue!

I would avoid terms like "traitor." Being gay is not an "affiliation" or a "side" in a war. I suspect calling him a "traitor" will actually make him more likely to entrench himself in his recent direction.

This is not the first time a young, emotionally vulnerable person has gotten brainwashed and sucked into a cult that promises to take away any and all pain.

It wouldn't shock me if the effect of this particular cult doesn't last, though. He will constantly be fighting his own physiology. And maybe some day it will dawn on him that his homosexuality and his sexual compulsiveness and/or porn addiction are two separate issues.

The reason he came out in WND is because David Kupelian is an associate of Roy Masters and the FHU. Look it up, there is a long history with that group. Roy was a frequent guest on Matt Drudge's tv show way back and Drudge claims he helped him "leave the lifestyle" too. Michael Glatze is following Roy's program of Christian meditation and observation in which you let your sinful behaviors fall away. A lot of what Michael said in his article were quotes from Roy. I don't know if it still is, but WND used to be headquartered in the house on Roy's Tall Timber Ranch retreat near Grants Pass Oregon. I spent a lot of time there in the 80's when I was part of that religion. Very painful time.

Jesus says, "Repent and believe in the gospel." (Mk 1:15)
Michael responded. God answered his plea. Michael will forever be in Christ's hands. Amen

Praise God!!!! The Holy One reached down to save Micheal.
A person cannot be changed over night. Micheal will need time to learn what God has for him. Sanctifiction is a process, not a result. In Due time, GOd will bring along a young lady for him and he will realize what true intamate joy is, the way God intended it for it to be.
True love gives, doesnt think of itself.
Repent while it there is still time. God loves you all, that He sent his Son to die on a cross, for your sins. God, will have to at one time, have to bring man into judgement. But as of now, He is willing to forgive sins. So I beg all to repent and turn your eyes to Jesus. He will forgive you all.

Well, a leopard doesn't change its spots.

Soon enough, he'll be in a bar somewhere, or a chatroom. Make sure to take notes and pictures.

Posted by: Diogenes | Jul 4, 2007 8:54:57 AM

But Jeffrey, will he forgive you all for judging others, casting stones, culling your knowledge of sexual orientation only from certain interpretations of certain Biblical passages, or demonizing a sect of the population for simply living the way they were created?

You don't hold ownership to God or "true intamate [sic] joy"!!

Its truly amazing that very few of these socalled "ex-gays" profess to ever having a girlfriend, wife, let alone an heterosexual sex-life. Some go for years without having any sexual conduct of any kind which to my mind suggests that they are still Gay but asexual.

If their claims to heterosexuality are true, then why aren't any of their therapies or studies published in the renowned literate such as Nature, JAP et al? In the absence of sound scientific experiments, the ex-gay movement is nothing more than a deception and merely a conduit to making a fast buck on unsuspecting individuals. What a sad bunch they must be.

I am not judging anybody, God has already done that and the fact you say that shows that you are convicted in your heart. Please, turn to Jesus. It doesnt matter if your gay, straight, theif or a overall good guy. Peter said in Acts 2:38 "Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Please, while there is still time. I dont wna to see you throw your life away over lust.

Posted by: Jeffrey | Jul 4, 2007 12:01:07 PM

Jeffrey: I am choosing to NOT throw my life away at the hand of extremist untruth, opting instead to live each day to the fullest with my true love. Please, while we all still have time here on Earth, repent for your mean-spirited attempts to foist your own personal spiritual views onto the rest of us. Start concerning yourself with Jeffrey.

Posted by: G-A-Y | Jul 4, 2007 12:40:51 PM

The only people throwing their lives away over lust are those that populate their souls with the lies told to them from birth by the many religions of the world. The incessant attacks upon innocents by religion are the greatest evil devised by man still left on this earth. All of the mainstream religions are perversions of human nature, their doctrines attempts to short-circuit the natural inquisitiveness of mankind by providinga yoke of "answers" that many weak-minded folk, mentally abused from birth, can never shake off. Thanks for the demo, Jeffrey.

Read an open letter to Michael that addresses a number of the remarks he makes in his essay and that takes him to task for attacking other well-adjusted gays who are living happy and meaningful lives...here:

Matthew Drudge (Radar Magazine): "You could probably call me a –new-age Jew. I'm really into meditation. I have been meditating since I was five years old. I love reading Jesus. I am open to a lot of different things. Again, it's a formula for my personal self that I've come up with. I don't go to shul, I don't go to church every Sunday. But the older I get, the closer I feel to a creator."

Michael Glatze (WorldNetDaily): "Every time I was tempted to lust, I noticed it, caught it, dealt with it. I called it what it was, and then just let it disappear on its own."

Roy Masters (FHU.com): "In Christian forms of meditation, forming a connection to God is a part of the process. Rather than reaching a higher state of communication with the self, the goal in biblical meditation is to find a connection to a higher power. Through this connection to something outside of ourselves, many of us make peace with our inner selves and with the truth of the world."

From the Book of Romans chapter 1:18-32
Would you all please read and think about this??
God is waiting for you to repent...
Please, I beg you!!

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 ¶ Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

To all of the Bible-quoting Christians... you'd best also dust off your Book of Mormon. Because Michael Glatze has "given up the lifestyle" after being baptized a Mormon. See http://wthrockmorton.com/2007/07/04/interview-with-michael-glatze/

I hope you wish him well in his quest to complete his earthly assignment in order to be reunited with his eternal family along with the other spirit children of God who have heeded the teachings of Jesus Christ through the angel Moroni, the Prophet Joseph Smith, and the others.

However, something tells me most of you won't be doing that. Maybe you'll be praying for him to become an ex-Mormon ex-gay?

To My Friends Who Are Trapped In Homosexuality
By Michael Glatze

Dear friend,

Thank you for your kind comments and keen observations regarding my story and my revelation about no longer being homosexual and now being heterosexual. I thank you for the time that you have spent in considering this issue, deeply, and with great passion. God loves you.

God is right there, within you, whether you like to see Him or not. Can you humble yourself to Him? It’s a really nice feeling. I know that, in some small way, you want to. We all do. We don’t like being separated from our Father; it makes us sad and lonely, forcing us to be angry, to act out, to get vulgar… well, I won’t go on; many of you have already demonstrated, on your blog comments, exactly what I’m talking about. ☺

God love you, Yes! He does! And, He wants you to be free from homosexuality. God made us men and women. Think about that; you could – really – be a man or a woman! Not a strange creature… but, real! That’s awesome… ☺

Change is very difficult and takes a lot of inner strength. Do you have that strength? I promise you that the Gay Identity does not exist, that it is a fabrication of mankind (look it up, if you don’t believe me), and that you are not “trapped” in same-sex-orientation. To believe that you are Gay is to be stupid. I’m sorry, if that sounds cruel; it’s not cruel. To believe that you are a false identity, created by man, unnaturally, to participate in social engineering, is to be stupid.

It’s not the acts, as much as it is the Identity. No one ever told you that, before, because they wanted to feed you with the lie that homosexuality is a set thing. Any intelligent “homosexual” knows there’s no fixed Gay Identity. If you don’t believe me, ask the theorists or “intellectuals.” ☺

Gay Identity has been packaged and fed to you, and – if you believe yourself to be “Gay” – you have eaten it, preventing you from further growth and understanding of your true and real self.

Coming out from under this packaged lie requires strong self-confidence and will and desire to know the Truth. Yes, Truth is capitalized. It is that way for a reason. There is only one Truth.

That one Truth is the fact that you are beautiful, perfect, and glorious, in the image of He who created you… God. There is only one God. I know it may be hard for you to get your head around the paradoxical nature of God… but, He is everywhere “out there” and – at the same time – right inside your soul. He sees and knows you. He loves you. ☺

He wants you to be free of homosexuality. I promise you that. He’s rooting for you; He knows you can do it. Remember, He loves you! He’s not judging you – those angry voices in your mind, planted there by Satan, might scream and judge and ridicule – but, no; He’s not judging you. He has patience. He’ll give you strength. All you have to do is pray to Him.

Prayer and love – True Love, my dear friends – requires total humility. Can you do that?

I know, in my heart, that all homosexuals desire to be free.

It is a new world, one in which the lie will not stand much longer. The tide is turning. Be not afraid! It’s a good change! Jesus will come. ☺ And, when that day happens, will you be – truly – yourself!? Or, will you be a demon, trapped in a fabrication not your own, lusting and hating and destroying your soul to hell? Consider this one last thing: all the love you may believe you feel for yourself or for someone else, while trapped in the homosexual mindset, is a grain of sand on the beach of the love that you could feel. Healing is possible. When you choose to go there, you know who to call on for help. His name is Jesus Christ.

OK, so basically the ex-gay movement wants me to denounce everything that is good and stable in my life, INCLUDING converting from Judaism? Sorry, Michael. I can think of nothing that keeps me from being my true self more than following your suggested path.

Shabbat Shalom.

My attempt at translation:

Why are gays so afraid of the ex-gays truth?

Kinda like the sex addict criticizing those who have overcome abnormal feelings of their sex addiction.

Posted by: karen | Jul 16, 2007 12:09:40 PM

Oh Karen, please read more of our "ex-gay" stuff before leaving such comments. Nobody is "scared" of the "ex-gay truth." We are sick and tired of the lies. We have seen the damage done, and we (and all people of science) know the flawed methodology behind the movement.

Virtually no gay activists cares about people living as they wish to live. We care about their using their "newfound happiness" to demonize the vast majority of gays who are quite comfortable living the way they were created.

Posted by: G-A-Y | Jul 16, 2007 12:19:26 PM

G-A-Y

Me thinks thou protest too much IF you are really that comfortable. Deep down I think you know he is right.

I am very familiar with both sides of this sexual orientation issue. Michael's truth is no less valid than yours.

Posted by: karen | Jul 16, 2007 12:43:18 PM

Karen: First off, when trying to cleverly use the populat Shakespearean quote, it's actually "methinks" (one word) followed by "DOTH protest too much."

Secondly: Please don't try that "you're being defensive" line of logic here. In fact, read what we have to say about such weak debate tactics here:

http://www.goodasyou.org/good_as_you/2007/06/dear-those-who-.html

Challenging gay bias is what this site is all about. By responding or even acknowledging folks like Michael Glatze, this site is only staying true to its mission.

By saying that "Michael's truth is no less valid," you obviously are not listening to what we are saying or what Mr. Glatze himself is saying. Nobody on this end of the conversation has even the slightest concern for Michael's sexuality. What we are concerned with is the damagin "ex-gay" movement, the junk science they use, the false lines they propagate, the studies they misrepresents, and the Biblical misconstructions they promote. If Mr. Glatze were not out there condmening gays as immoral and God-less, there are very few gay activists who would care about his situation in the least. However, that is not the case. He is demonizing his former community mercilessly.

Posted by: G-A-Y | Jul 16, 2007 1:14:41 PM

G-A-Y

You need to do some growing up. Very childish response but you proved my point. G'Day!

Posted by: karen | Jul 16, 2007 3:55:36 PM

Well, Karen: "I'm rubber and your glue and what..."...oh wait a minute, grow UP, you said. Hmm, okay. Well, personally I would debate that most children even know about either Hamlet, the flawed "ex-gay" movement, or why calling someone defensive is a weak-minded debate tactic. However, I would agree about one thing: One need only be above the age of two or three to grasp the idea of gay normalcy (which Michael Glatze is contesting). So on that point: Call me an infant if it makes you feel like you've had the last word. I've been called worse.

Posted by: G-A-Y | Jul 16, 2007 4:17:27 PM

I have read Micheals essay...comments from both sides, from all areas of media....and I have come to the conclusion that NO ONE is really listening and probably what I say will fall on deaf ears too...but just in case some one will have the ear to hear, I will say it. We all have FREE WILL. We make choices in our life based on many different things. We are held accountable for our choices that we make because of the FREE WILL. Michael clearly said he made his FREE WILL choice after hearing from GOD through prayer. It is an overwhelming realization that leads you with the burning desire to let everyone know and understand the same can happen for others. Obiviously Michael has a loving heart for all of those just like him or else he would not have gone "OUT" there to reach them. Don't fool yourselves, he knew before hand of the ridicule and rejection he was going to receive....but that did not stop him. It was
because of LOVE for his fellow man/woman that his voice came forward. It was not to pass judgement on a people, but to hopefully open the eyes of those like him. If you do not believe there maybe others like him, then it is YOU who should be accused of passing judgement. Homosexual, straight, christian, non christian...respect Michaels words for what they truly are....words of LOVE and words of TESTIMONY that will only be received by those who, by FREE WILL, choose to hear it and act on it.

Posted by: donna B. | Jul 16, 2007 7:48:10 PM

Donna B: These are not words of love:

***

"To believe that you are Gay is to be stupid."

A gay person is not "real," but rather "a strange creature"

"Any intelligent 'homosexual' knows there's no fixed Gay Identity

There are "angry voices" in the gay person' mind, which were "planted there by Satan"

If you are a gay person, you are "a demon, trapped in a fabrication not your own, lusting and hating and destroying your soul to hell"

"Homosexuality, delivered to young minds, is by its very nature pornographic"

Homosexuality "destroys impressionable minds and confuses their developing sexuality"

Gay rights is "a movement of sin and corruption"

"We cannot see the truth when we're blinded by homosexuality."

"...homosexual sex – and all other lust-based sex – is never satisfactory: It's a neurotic process rather than a natural, normal one."

Gays are incapable of true love

***

Again, nobody has any problem with Michael or anyone's "free will." Most gay activists do not care one bit what people do in their bedrooms. What e have a problem with is Michael demonizing our lives and loves.

***Oh, and just a general comment to everyone, addressed to nobody in particular: We do get an email with the IP address when someone makes a comment. That being the case, please do not use multiple handles and talk to yourself.
