Not that we were really expecting a pro-gay appointment

 Globe Spotlight Abuse Images Small ObrienArchbishop Edwin F. O'Brien, who back in 2005 oversaw a Vatican evaluation which was essentially designed to root out homosexuality in U.S. seminaries, has been named the new archbishop of Baltimore, MD.

First order of business: Finding every location ever used in a John Waters film and de-gaying it.

**RELATED: Here is an O'Brien quote from a 2005 "NewsHour" piece, in which he explains reasons behind the "gay witch hunt":

"We don't want our people to think, as our culture is now saying, there's really no difference whether one is gay or straight, is homosexual or heterosexual. We think for our vocation that there is a difference, and our people expect to have a male priesthood that sets a strong role model of maleness."

Your thoughts

Since when does a "strong role of maleness" include repressing natural sexual urges, molesting children, and helping to cover it up?

If that's maleness, I'm going to become a lesbian ASAP.

Since when does wearing a black dress with a red satin sash and a pillbox hat represent "a strong role of maleness"? I've seen butcher drag queens.

A strong model of maleness. Because, you know, you can't be male AND gay. That doesn't happen.
