'People of means' asked to support 'amendment of mean'

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 1-91A California coalition working under the duplicitous name VoteYesMarriage.com is currently airing ads on various conservative and Christian radio stations throughout the Golden State, wherein former Assemblyman Larry Bowler (pic) encourages "people of means" to financially support the effort to have a gay marriage-banning amendment placed on the 2008 ballot.

Finally providing an answering to our question: Is there any worse thing than booze, drugs, and hookers on which rich Californians can blow their money? It would seem there is.

Speaking of the impetus behind the ads, Bowler says the group needs to raise over $2 million to cover the costs associated with writing bias into the state's most precious governing document. We, however, think that's a short-sighted figure, as there is simply no way to calculate the exorbitant cost that such a measure would have on the state's good name, the population's well-being, their legacy of fairness, or their support for the separation of church and state.

Though we understand why you haven't calculates those tolls, kids. It's hard to put an accurate price tag on historical missteps, especially when you're the ones trying to run up the bill!
