Gay/straight/bi: Not as simple as ABC?
ABC News is using the story that Britney Spears may have had some lesbian dalliances to examine those women who eschew traditional labels such as "bisexuality" in favor of a more fluid set of rules. And while we personally think the Brit-Brit story would be better parlayed into an examination of how early fame and intense media scrutiny can drive one to the brink of batsh*t craziness, the piece it did inspire is actually a well thought out and well researched examination into sexual intimacy and identity. Go have yourself a read:
Young Women Defy Labels in Intimacy With Both Sexes [ABC News]
Our favorite quote from the piece? This, from National Gay and Lesbian Task Force spokesperson Roberta Sklar:
"These young women see sexuality as a fluid thing" ... "It's not just between your legs."
Because she's totally right. For all of us, no matter the label, it's the removal of the fluid from between the legs that would seem to be the sexuality-based goal (even if it's tougher for women)!
