Ain't Raging Homophobia A Shame?
This is Pat Boone:
Unfortunately, so is this:
In another part of town, in another spellbound school, a handsome young boy named Prince Charming was going through similar experiences. Snow White and Prince Charming would have made a perfect couple, as their parents would have dreamed – but under prolonged exposure to the same hypnotic spell, the boy was seduced by each of the Dwarfs and taught in the mandatory sex education class that he'd been born "gay." When he learned he'd contracted AIDS, he overdosed on drugs that were easily obtained just outside the principal's office, on the schoolyard.
His sorrowing parents arranged a memorial service, and everybody – including the Seven Dwarfs and the Wicked Witch – agreed he'd been just an "ideal kid," without an enemy in the world. Except the Seven Dwarfs and the Wicked Witch.
It would be wonderful if it could be said "… and they all lived happily ever after" – but of course, that would be a lie. Too many of them didn't even go on living very long, some struck down with insidious contagious diseases, which some tried to blame on uncaring politicians and hard-hearted, Bible-toting right-wingers.
The Dwarfs and so many of the children whose morals they'd corrupted traded honor and integrity and happiness for fatal neuroses and shorter life expectancy – while the very tradition of marriage and family dissolved and the reputation of the land called America was forever damaged.
...
Yes, the above is pulled from a new piece that the 50's pop star has penned for WorldNetDaily, in which he uses the familiar Snow White tale to denounce gays and progressive politics in general (with teachers and members of a civil liberties union serving as the seven dwarfs, and Snow White's lesbian partner serving as the wicked witch). Because, of course, the whole schtick of social conservatism is to make it seem as if there is something evil and insidious lying behind the curtain of liberal politics, so what better (or more simplistic) way to convey this than to clumsily take a children's fairy tale and corrupt its every concept? That way the readership can just say, "Hey, I also know the Snow White story. And it's supposed to be all happy and good and stuff. But see, what's happening in this version is that all this bad stuff is happening instead. So that must mean that when gays say they're happy, they are actually gross, disgusting, and doomed. Eureka! It all makes sense to me now. Gays and liberals are the villains. The world is so much easier to understand when it is presented in such an elementary fashion."
Because seriously, who needs reasoned exploration when you can have irrational (and cruel) exploitation?
But then again, perhaps Mr. Boone is just trying to show that the political and ideological ideas inside of his head are as vacant as the space atop it:
