Eutha-gayborto-fearorrism
The following is a letter to the editor that was posted today by the Belleville News-Democrat (highlighting our own):
Okay. So overlooking politics for a second. Overlooking any particular candidate or party. Overlooking the state in which you believe America to currently be in, as well as the state it would be in under a Democratic president. Can we just talk about how mind-numbingly annoying it is that our opposition always includes the "issue" of marriage equality in with ones like abortion, terrorism, and euthenasia?! It always brings to mind this classic:
You tell 'em, Cookie Monster! Because regardless of your personal views as to when life begins, who should have the right to make what medical decisions, and the threat of militants blowing us off the face of the map, we should all be able to agree that the right of gay folks to say "I do" is not going to terminate anyone's existence! But social conservatives just LOVE to act as if the liberal wet dream is to have a secular same-sex marriage performed in an abortion clinic that's owned by Dr. Kevorkian. And they love to make it seem as if terrorists would be invited to the ceremony, whereupon they would (a) eat all the cake, (b) not even bring a gift, then (c) slit our throats/ chop off out heads. The unwarranted, unfair dot-connecting is an unfair political linkage, playing right into the gay fear they so wish to cultivate.
We don't even care to address Ms. Epplin's ideas about that great savior known as the modern Republican party, as we think people can gauge for themselves just how well the last 6+ have gone in terms of our world reputation and our homeland security. But we will ask that if she or anyone wants to deal with gay marriage, then they need to start only dealing with the issues at (non-ring-adorned) hand!
Now if you'll excuse this writer, I must go to the abortion clinic grocery store to buy some bombs tofu for my terrorism partner would-be husband, as tonight we plan to euthanize someone for fun have a nice quiet night eating children eating dinner and simply enjoying our loving yet non-legally recognized society-wrecking militancy monogamous partnership.

Your thoughts
Hey, I suppose that when fear is the only motivational tool you seem to have available, you have to make the most of it whenever you can.

Oh, and just so you know, your link to the Letters 9/11 page on BND's site is broken. (The file extension should be ".html", not ".htm".)
