Tammy B. seeks an ENDA with 'T'
In an attempt to heal the wounds that have been created by removing gender identity from ENDA (The Employment Non-Discrimination Act), openly lesbian Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin has announced that she'll propose an amendment to restore trans protections:
Lesbian Lawmaker Offers ENDA Compromise [365Gay]
Baldwin was said to have cited fairness, decency, community unity, and the fact that the national transgender banquets tend to have far better hors d'oeuvres as reasons why she's standing up for that particular community (and keeping herself on their invite lists).

Your thoughts
Was your little tid bit at the end supposed to be funny? Transgender orgs don't typically have banquets (otherwise known as fundraisers with food).
Your comment might some how be funny if it had some truth to it.

Marti: Uhm, it was meant to be a very benign, silly little comment that about her not wanting to piss off the transgender community because their banquets are better (meant to contrast with the actual, principled reasons why she supports the transgender community). Irreverence is the bent on which this site operates.
I didn't think this one was particularly funny, but I never for a second thought it was controversial. :-)
