Video: Semi-Live Streaming the 'Values Voters' Summit (Pt. 8)

by Jeremy Hooper

We weren't familiar with Johnathan and Deborah Flora (a filmmaker and his actress wife) until today. However, they certainly have some opinions about us:

Oh yes -- our "agenda" of wanting to see our lives represented in entertainment. It wasn't that gay people exist and inspire screenwriters, gay subjects make for good storylines, and creative people like Ellen Degeneres just so happen to be gay. We wanted to ruin America with our 'moness.

Ugh. Just ugh.

***NOTE: People For The American Way's "Right Wing Watch" blog is also covering the event. Check that out as well.

***NOTE2: The "Ugly Betty" kid has never said he's gay. Thanks for outing him there, Deb.

***NOTE3: Oh, and stop with the idea that a show is automatically and advocate for its subject matter! "Big Love" is no more a commercial for polygamy than "The Sopranos" was for "waste management"!

Your thoughts

Among allllll the stupidity these people are showing, an obvious one is pure ignorance of film history.
I won't go into a long thing, but if they don't see how film has handled the origins of any cultural change (i.e. African American) in film, they are just cherry picking for their own agenda. (DUH)

Unbelievable. She seems to think a gay mafia is controlling the content of TV comedies and dramas, and has introduced homosexuality into cowboy culture. I'm sure she would attack Jews (for allegedly controlling the media) if she thought that it was more socially acceptable.

I'm really having trouble seeing how an actress who has primarily acted on soap operas and in horror movies can cast dispersions on Ugly Betty and Will & Grace.
