Writers strike, schmriters schmrike: Logo embraces new reality

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 4-97The folks at Logo have announced three new reality series that will debut on the network in the new year. They are:

"Transamerican Love Story" (pic) : A dating competition series centered on transgender activist, artist, actress and author Calpernia Addams.

"Gimme Sugar": Follows five women on the search for love in the L.A. lesbian nightlife and club scene

"Rockdogs" (working title): Chronicles San Francisco’s star gay basketball team as its new generation of players struggles to survive on and off the court.

Sounds entertaining enough. Sadly, however, the show that we've pitched...

"Hey, There's Lots of Disgusting Soci-Political Stuff Happening That We Could and SHOULD Acknowledge In A Televised Format. It Doesn't Have To Be Weighty and Hard-Hitting. It Should Be Direct And Unapologetic, Yet Hip and Irreverent. There Is An Audience Craving This Sort of Thing. Honestly. Look at 'Daily' and 'Colbert.' Come On, Logo, Don't Forfeit The Opportunity To Make A Difference In This Culture War. The Summer Debate Was A Great Start. Now Let's Keep Going" (working title)

...has still not been picked up. Maybe next year.

Your thoughts

Thank You. I want to support Logo but you're right do we really need more GLBT fluff? That's what Bravo & VH1 are for.

I'm rather disappointed in Logo, allot of the programming is pretty bad. My ex however watches it all the time, I just don't get it.

If I wanna watch bad acting by gays, I can watch the Republican National Convention!

Well, I thank there is certainly room for both. But yes, I, for one, am not going to stop pushing the network to raise their voice and rally potential troops to fight the good fight.
