If only there were a merit badge for disturbing hypocrisy

by Jeremy Hooper

Remember way back in the spring of '06 when we and most every other gay site told you about the Berkeley Sea Scouts (a Boy Scouts group) being denied free berthing at a local marina because of their discriminatory policy against gay people? And remember how the Sea Scouts then unsuccessfully tried to take their case all the way to the Supreme Court in order to have the ruling overturned? Well, guess what? The lead plaintiff in that case, Sea Scouts leader Eugene Evans, has now been arrested. And for what, you ask? SUSPICION OF MOLESTING FOUR YOUNG BOYS!!!!

Picture 4-98Yes, that's right -- a longtime Boy Scout leader (seen here) has been hauled in on allegations that he has done the exact thing that they LOVE to say would happen if gays were allowed equal access to the organization. Pam has a rundown of what we know so far:

Berkeley Sea Scout skipper busted on child molestation charges [PHB]

There's of course nothing funny about the allegations. But the nonstop hypocrisy parade that keeps coming from the "Doth protest too much" crowd -- that's freaking hysterical (in a "holy mother of God, how could you possibly live within the falsely sanctimonious confines of your own disturbing speciousness?!?" sort of way)
