'Mass'es divided by crap, united by craps
So what's a way to unite both those religious folks who fear gays and those who do not? Well, in Massachusetts, it seems to be a fear of casinos that can bring the two sides together. Read this AP item and then we'll get back to you:
Foes in gay marriage fight unite to oppose gambling
BOSTON (AP) — Religious leaders who took opposing sides in the state’s turbulent gay marriage debate have found something to bring them together: opposition to casino gambling. Gov. Deval Patrick’s proposal to bring three casinos to Massachusetts has united religious groups that were once entrenched foes. It was just six months ago that one of the toughest gay marriage battles — over a ballot question that would have banned the marriages — ended when lawmakers killed the question.
‘‘You would like nothing better than to hold grudges. But in government you can’t do that,’’ said Kris Mineau of the Massachusetts Family Institute, a leading anti-gay marriage lobbying group.
Mineau already has worked closely with pastors who disagreed with him on gay marriage, speaking at two Massachusetts Council of Churches forums this month to educate clergy on how to fight expanded gambling.
Wait, so you mean to tell us that some of those who respect that gay men don't wanna play "poke her" on their honeymoons are less accepting of those who want to play poker? That they're fine with Bette Porter, just not with betting quarters? That they have no problem with the marriage of Chip and Jack, yet they want no chips to be used in search of a blackjack? Weird.
But even though we personally like both queer nuptials and games of economic chance, we're actually sort of happy to hear that this whole "culture war" is not as black/white, either/or, this side/that side as it so often seems. In a weird way, it's sort of refreshing to be reminded that in terms of social issues, there are not only two clearly defined mindsets from which folks must choose one.

Your thoughts
One of the biggest secrets of the christian right is that the bible says nothing about gambling. Nothing at all. Its not even mentioned once. The best they can distort into supporting them is the 'no coverting' commandment.
The biggest secret of all is that there is only one verse in the bible that could be related to abortion... and its pro-choice.
