A-Paul-ing comments redux

by Jeremy Hooper

Good As You Images Good As You Images Picture-6-103Last week we told you about some inhumane passages that The New Republic had discovered in past issues of the various newsletters that GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul has been issuing since 1978. Well now TNR has released even more unsavory comments from those same papers. Here are the gay-centric passages:

Gays

The December 1989 Ron Paul Political Report contains entries on a "new form of racial terrorism," cites former Congressman Bill Dannemeyer's claim that "the average homosexual has 1,000 or more partners in a lifetime," and quotes Lew Rockwell, president of the Ludwig von Mises Institute, in the third person.

In January 1990, the Ron Paul Political Report cites "a well-known libertarian editor" who "told me: 'The ACT-UP slogan on stickers plastered all over Manhattan is 'Silence=Death.' But shouldn't it be Sodomy = Death'?"

The July 1991 Ron Paul Political Report defends homophobic remarks made by Tom Clancy, and cites Clancy saying, "I live in a free country, and if people want to have their anuses used in that way, while I find it unsavory, I do not arrogate to myself the right to prevent them from doing so."

The September 1994 issue of the Ron Paul Survival Report states that "those who don't commit sodomy, who don't get blood a transfusion, and who don't swap needles, are virtually assured of not getting AIDS unless they are deliberately infected by a malicious gay."

Now, it's a certainty that Paul will again disavow the comments and claim to have had no knowledge of their printing. But we also have to again ask: Doesn't that, even if true, raise eyebrows?! While surely a busy man in the 80's and 90's, it's not as if Ron didn't have a free minute to pick up a paper that was PRINTED UNDER HIS NAME!! And wouldn't one think he would desire some sort of advisory role in the hiring of those who were entrusted to carry out his political views in these papers?! It just seems a little absurd that so many comments (and it should be noted that there are far more comments than just the ones involving gays) managed to slip by him on so many different occasions.

We'll let you know if TNR digs up any more. In the meantime, check out this shocking piece that was sent to us by Ron's first grade classmate:

Your thoughts

I'm no longer a Paul supporter. I think that people do, however, need to realize one thing: even if Ron Paul personally made every statement in the newsletters, this would pale in comparison to the crimes committed by the leading presidential candidates (to use the media term).

The US government is responsible for untold violence and butchery worldwide. It has mens with guns all over the globe to bully people; it's killing people in wars in several countries; it props up bloody dictators in several others; and it wages a "War on Drugs" that has led to untold level of bloodshed in our own cities.

Many of the leading candidates are Senators who have voted to implement and fund these atrocities; all of them support the basic continuation of most of this. Their complicity in this butchery is far more morally repugnant than anything Paul is being accused of.

A similar message has been used to elevate all other sorts of moral degenerates like Ron Paul to power, where they do horrendous things.

Ron Paul isn't fit to be president -- he never way.
